Papillon is located in a quiet, and very small, community on the Central Coast of California in the middle of Paso Robles and Edna Valley. The Chef (Jensen Lorenzen) and I opened the restaurant in May of 2006. We are both passionate about food and wine, and nothing is more exciting to us than the perfect marriage of the two.

Jensen defines his cuisine as contemporary American with traditional French sensibilities. He uses all locally grown produce and creates a new menu every season. I have customized our wine list to complement Jensen’s menu and to showcase the exceptional wines produced in our region.

I update the wine list constantly to accommodate the changes with each menu. The variety of produce, sauces, meats and fish that Jensen uses call for a wine list with equal variety, of both origin and varietal.

Jensen and I feel very lucky to be located in such an amazing wine region, with wineries such as Domaine Alfred, Talley, Turley, Alban, Linne Calodo and L’Aventure a short drive from the restaurant. This area is developing into an exciting destination for food and wine and we are proud to be a part of it.
